Welcome to The Unfinished Republic

If you’ve visited this website before, you’ve probably noticed that it’s changing.

It began as a website that introduced me as a general officer candidate to anyone who cared to look, although I don’t know if anyone actually looked. That said, I’m grateful for the confidence my fellow compatriots placed in me by electing me as Chancellor General of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Now it’s becoming something different.

I hope The Unfinished Republic will become a place where I can share stories, essays, and reflections about America, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the remarkable people who continue the work of preserving our nation’s heritage.

Why The Unfinished Republic?

Because I don’t believe the Founders left us a finished nation. They left us a republic that each generation is called to strengthen, improve, and pass along. The work of citizenship is never complete, and neither is the work of remembering those who made our liberty possible.

Some articles will be serious. Others will be lighthearted. I’ll write about history, patriotism, leadership, faith, family, and the curious habits that make Americans uniquely American. Along the way, I hope to answer not only what we do, but why we do it.

If these essays encourage a greater appreciation for our country, our history, and the ideals of liberty, then this website will have accomplished its purpose.

Please be patient with me as this site transitions to its new format – when fully revised it will not be a campaign website for anyone, myself included. Just a resource.
